In rural areas where cable is not available, satellite television provides service that would otherwise not be available. The satellite antenna must be placed where it has a clear view of the southern sky. Direct TV provides 500-plus channels and offers international programming broadcasting in Arabic, Spanish, South-Asian, Polish, Greek, Russian, Chinese and Korean packages. Direct TV provides local programming and local networks in their programming packages. Satellite TV is entirely digital which provides a high quality picture and sound.
